Icycle

The annual Icycle fest occured this weekend in Fontana Village, NC.  A steelar event put on by J&W events and Sycamore Cycles
Typically the weather has been quite rough in years past, cold rain and or snow.  But not this time beautiful sunny weather, which should have mean't great riding...
This was to be my first XC race of the season, and first time on a MTB in months.  I have been trapped on the trainer due to the snow covered roads and waist deep snow on the trails of my home.  Anyway...  I felt good at the start and was rearing to rip.  I soon realized the condition my body was in though.  Half way through the second lap my physical and mental condition rapidly declined, a couple of major crashes and a little vommiting (yeaaaa).  On my third lap I was passed by numerous riders in my class (I stopped counting after around 10).  The technical skills were on mostly but that does not cut it at all.
Enough about me though.  The event was one of the most professionally handled ones I have ever attended.  The XC race went great.  Than it was time for folks to start getting ready for the Night downhill race.  I headed down to the finish and hooked up some rider's with my kick ass demo bikes.  We also did some pretty major repairs at the finish also.  We cobbed a Hayes brake hose back together using some Avid parts and a papper clip (some of my greatest work).  I also met tons of genuinely great people.  Unfortunatly I had to leave at night fall to make my next destination, so I missed the actual DH race.
Many thanks to Wes, Jay, and Chris for their awesome dedication to sport and putting on an incredible event.
