What's more fun than Cross?

Day two of racing in KC came for us on Saturday. Once again bitter cold; SWEET!!! Today was age group races. Andy and I went off a bit before Ian. I was was planning on making up for my short comings and technical difficulties on the prior race day. If you have read my previous jornal entry you will know of the chain breakage at the start of the "B" race. The Masters race would be my time to shine!
As we line up in the grid the tension began to mount for me. I can not recall the last time I felt this nervous. After the long line up and call out we were ready to go. I was started somewhere in the far far back, but still lucky enough to have a better position than Andy. Than we were off! I felt good and made a few good moves up the opening straight and looked as if I would have a good position going into the dirt. As we railed in to turn one as if we were a single ungainly beast. As soon as I hit the quick right hand rise, my rear end skip out a bit. Than I was immediatly T-Boned by two riders. Upon hitting the ground I was ran over by countless others. OUCH!!!. After the tangled mess of bicycles was pry apart and off of me I hopped up, and than realized my race was over. I could barely walk. Man it friggin hurt. It turned out fine and I was OK, despite a few cuts and heavily bruised knees. Aaaaah Cross...
Andy J. went on to ride it out in his typical happy and smiley fashion, good for him. He rode smart and because of that was able to finish. Me I say to hell with smart pedal to the medal until you blow up, which I typically do.
