Race: Sea Otter 1-2-3-Date: 16 April 2009Weather: Cold, upper 50s, and windyRacers: 5 Code 3 (Vanessa, Wikie Furman, Baker, and Me)Teams: Couple of Tibcos, handfull of Sugar CRMThe Course: "Bratwurst" with a 'lil ole hill in the middleThe Race:After a week off I was looking forward to racing. I had taken the day off for work and was grateful that the really windy weather from Tuesday/Wednesday was clearing. Unfortunately, the wind hadn't cleared all the way and there was a persistant breeze from the South(?). After our warm-up we took a few warm up laps on the course, in a word a nice technical course with a little old hill that I new was going to grow horns as the race continued. We eventually lined off and the race was off. The course was incredible, the smoothest tarmac that I've ever seen with nice technical 180s on both ends of the course. The first 10 minutes were uneventful except for the fact that I was falling back on the course. Every lap (hill) I fell back only to jump back onto the pack during the downhills. My "job" for the race was attacker and chaser and I knew with the coming lap I wouldn't have much left so I attacked. Wikie was on the front of the pack and everyone else was in the top 10. I accelerated from the back left and sucesfully cleared the pack. I looked over my shoulder and I had the pack strung out. Unfortunately, my accleration dropped significantly as I hit the hill and Tibco countered. The pack swarmed around me and I was off the back with no hope of catching back on.The next 35 minutes were solo. I worked on my lines around the 180s and enjoyed the smooth tarmac, but it was a long 35 minutes...
