Lene Byberg's Journal

Roc D'Azur 2007

posted by at 04:05 PM on November 26, 2007

The women’s race was pretty competitive with very little time separating the final standings. Lene is slowly slipping into holiday mode, given the time of year and taking that into consideration she was really happy with today’s race. “The first hour was really hard, which shows even at this time of the year there are some girls with racing energy left! My season is pretty much over so I do not have this sharpness anymore”.

The course was great and Lene really enjoyed her new 2008 Specialized Safire.  Lene like Susi was also running a new 2008 bike in today’s race, which is essentially the women’s version of The Specialized Stumpjumper. “The bike was really good especially in the downhills, where I was one of the fastest girls. I also felt good on the bike immediately, which was great considering that I only had a day to test it. The brain fork was also really good and even out of the saddle on tarmac it stayed locked and it moved comfortably over the more technical terrain. I was also pretty impressed that we got such a bike so light!”
