Here are some numbers:
11 - the number of Ironman races I've done before this during which i've sworn each one was my last.
52 - the number of km i rode with 10time Ironman Champion Peter Reid the Friday before Sunday's ride.
15 - the number of those km which seemed to be straight uphill
5 - the number of minutes before 5am that I woke up on Sunday morning to get ready for the race
4 - the number of times i peed in my wetsuit during the swim
3 - the times i got kicked during that swim
2 - the total number of Specialized Aero Helmets in the race
1 - the number of those helmets on my head
1:03 - that how long it took me to get through the swim. it was fun. quick and i could have done another 2.4 miles if i had to. perfect.
5:36 - that's the time on this day for one of the nicest 112 mile rides i've ever done.
4:36 - the time it took me to suffer through a full 26 miles of shuffle running and talking myself out of walking to get to the finish.
5 - the number of times I thought this was the hardest race yet
6 - the number of beers I drank after it was over
1 - the former race winners who were chearing for me
0 - the times i really thought about quitting the race.

thanks to everyone who looked at the Specialized bikes i brought up
thanks to Peter Reid for camping in the rain to support Specialized
thanks to Clint Lien for dropping out of the race so I won our head to head by default and didn't need to dig any deeper into the pain cave I was already in.
whew. 363 days to go until next year.
