Blowin' Up In UCSC

posted by at 11:11 AM on June 29, 2007

We had a great ride last night.  We brought out the Demo 7's and The "KIZE" came out with his new Enduro SL Carbon right out of the box.  BAM!
This was the debut of the new Marzoochi Bomber shoes and the new Team Tank Top.  The shoe's are bling for sure all white.
So we headed off to hit up some of the stunts scattered around UCSC.  We come up to the Rock roll in and who else to jump up and put new emphasis on GO BIG OR GO HOME, but The KIZE.  He Rolls in and straight down, no problem.  Everyone else that was interested took their turns, and luckily no blowouts or crashes.
Next we were off to the Jump line.  Here we scouted them out and again, who's drop-in' in, the KIZE.  No hesitation.  Later we were hitting the step-up and we hear a "BOOM" and for a second, I think everyone thought is was a gun shot, but after looking around and up the trail, their is The KIZE, sideways in the air off one of the jumps.   Uh Oh....   Bam, he hits the deck.  We run up to check him out and he hit the steep lip jump and had rolled the tire causing a blowout at the base of the lip so he even felt the tire going.  He slightly knocked the wind out of himself, but he recovered fine.  We replaced the tube and he was back at it, not to the same degree, but he hit a few jumps before we headed down the trial back to the cars.
The KIZE couldn't how much fun riding the Mountain Bike could be.  As he says, "A much better all around workout and more fun than riding the road".   He has guaranteed to come back and ride again.
The shoes survived the first ride barely dirty, and keeping up to the reputation of the 5TEN version.  The toe box is even tougher than the previous versions of 5TEN's which will be helpful for me since I seem to find the perfect root that will try to puncture through my toe box and break my toe.

Happy Trails....
