Specialized Trail Crew
posted by RoubaixRider at 11:53 PM on August 12, 2009
UPDATE: DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY
SEPT 18TH.
(So, get on it!)
We’re looking for a few good riders. More specifically, we’re looking for a few avid mountain bikers. People who ride a lot, can tell a good story and lead group rides. Riders who respect and are respected by their riding buddies.
These riders are going to be part of something both amazingly fun and bigger than themselves. They will become charter members of the Stumpjumper Trail Crew, and they will get to ride the all-new 2010 Stumpjumper FSR.
The Stumpjumper Trail Crew will go something like this: We will select a handful of people who are great advocates for trail riding and comfortable with websites like Facebook and Twitter. Maybe these people race, but they probably don’t call themselves “racers”. Maybe they build trails. Maybe they don't ride every day, but they definitely ride every chance they get, and they love to share their enthusiasm for riding.
Each of these riders will get a 2010 S-Works Stumpjumper FSR to ride for a year or so, plus the cool swag to go with it: helmet, shoes, gloves, optics, etc. Specialized will provide a place online for the riders to share their epic (no, Stumpjumper) tales of sweet singletrack, post photos and videos, and brag about what a great time they’re having.
A few times a year, we’ll get the Crew together at some incredibly sweet riding location for, well, incredibly sweet rides … on our dime.
Sounds pretty sweet, huh? But you know nothing comes for free. So what’s the price? That depends. Maybe free. We’ll set a sweet bro-deal price for the bike, and these riders won’t have to pay for it until almost a year later (or they could just give it back, but we've ridden this bike, so we're thinking that's unlikely). Plus, over the year, each of these riders will share their stories online and in person, and the more they share, the cheaper their bike will get. If they share a lot, they’ll end up getting the whole thing for free. It’s one of those “everybody wins” situations.
So get on it. Show us you’re the right guy to be on the Crew. The directions: Get on Twitter, and send an @reply to us at @iamspecialized with a link to a blog post you’ve written or a video you’ve recorded that tells us why you’re the right guy for the job. We’ll look through them all and start making selections in a few weeks. We're stoked.

Hello, this would be a lot of fun. I am a great story teller and by the way have many to tell. I travel often and take my Stumpy with me while on the road. I ride trails all over the South East from GA, Carolinas, VA, TN, KT, IN and other places when I travel. As I tell my friends, I don't leave home with out my Stumpy FSR or my Roubaix. Both bikes make great travel partners and are responsible for me making new friends abroad. When I travel, I often will call other bike shops that I find online through the riders club to locate date/times of rides from those shops. I have met a lot people and really have a network of folks that also enjoy riding that I ultimately found through the riders club online. In fact I will be in Bowling Green, KY Sept. 14th and already have a road ride setup with some friends from the local hospital. That's about it, I have other stories to share if your interested. Later, I'm going ridin!

I am totally your guy for the Trail Crew. I've been riding for year and love to mountain bike. I like to consider myself an advocate for mountain biking. I run a website called www.mtbiking.ca which is an online resource for mountain bikers in Canada. I also run a mountain bike program at the school where I teach. I really enjoy the mountain bike program at the school because the students involved tend to be the ones not involved in the "school team" sports. I have been a member of the IMBA for many years and volunteer/promote many of their trail work days. I believe that I would be the ideal person to be on your Trail Crew. I was really into racing when I first got into the sport but now I race only a few events a year. I try to choose the more relaxed event with a festival feel to them. To me that is what riding is all about having a good time and riding with other mountain bikers. Thank you for the opportunity to apply to be on the trail crew!

Check out our forum my handle is "tweezer" also consider viewing Part one of our clubs race video, on our video page. "4 hours of cactus". Im all for the sport and have never made a nickel off the club our any of our events. every penny goes toward maintaining the trails and our club site. We have a large membership and actively host many kinds of cycling events for the surrounding communities. Our race team “Cactus Cruzers” is over 60 members strong. And though mostly weekend warriors a few are top contenders. Most of my money goes into the club so not much is left for fancy bikes like the one you suggest. Will investing in me bring you equal returns? That my friends, is easily guaranteed. Thanks for giving the average Joe a chance to be recognized for their efforts.
