Riders Club in Durango with Ned Overend!!!
posted by id* at 03:56 PM on September 15, 2008
The Riders Club recently descended upon Durango for 4 days of riding on choice Colorado singletrack. The group was joined by Specialized’s living legend, former World Champion and Durango local, Ned Overend. Club members came from near and far, including Colorado, Arizona, Washington state, and even Torreon, Mexico. The trip was hosted by Hermosa Tours (www.hermosatours.net), an expert-level guide company specializing in the best destinations in Colorado, Utah, and California. Housed in a luxurious 5,000 square foot trailside lodge, and with Hermosa Tours guiding and shuttling the rides, the trip was first-class all the way.
The riding included some of Durango’s premier trails: The Telegraph Trail System, designated an IMBA “Epic Ride”, multiple sections of the Colorado Trail, and Durango’s signature Hermosa Creek Trail. Riders put their own Specialized sleds to the test on endless miles of singletrack, and also sampled new test bikes. They also sported an array of S-Works gear that was included in the swag package for the trip. Four days of all-singletrack riding was a big effort for the group, but the perfect weather, afternoon hot-tub, and gourmet home-cooked meals made daily recovery easy.
The Durango trip will likely become an annual event, and is expected to grow next year. Hermosa Tours will also be running other Riders Club events throughout the Western States.
