Olympic Cycling is HERE!

Watch for World Champion Christoph Sauser on his 2009 Epic

“The Beijing Olympics start August 8th and Cycling is featured for two weeks between road races, time trials, mountain bike, BMX and track cycling.  Specialized athletes will be featured in almost all disciplines and our bikes and equipment will be all over the Olympics.  Here’s a preview of what to watch when…

Saturday, August 9th – Men’s Road Race

11am China time / 8pm Friday PST

Watch for defending champion Paolo Bettini on his S-Works Tarmac SL2 to be gunning for the win with the support of Davide Rebellin.  Also on Tarmac SL2s will be Fabian Wegmann and Stefan Schumacher for Germany.

Other athletes racing who will be using Specialized equipment include:  Marzio Bruseghin, Simon Spilak, Mario Earts, Christophe Brandt, Cadel Evans, Matthew Lloyd, Jurgen Van den Broeck, Johan Van Summeren, Levi Leipheimer, Niki Terpstra, Ralf Grabsch, Nicolas Roche, Christian Vande Velde, Vladimir Efimkim, Ivan Stevic and Ben Swift.

Sunday, August 10th – Women’s Road Race

2pm China time / Saturday 11pm PST

Watch for Emma Pooley of the Specialized D4W team to patrol the front of this race for Great Britain on her S-Works Rubys!  Also watch for the Norwegian National Team in their Specialized S-Works helmets.

Wednesday, August 13th – Men’s and Women’s Time Trial

11:30am China for Women, 1:30pm China for Men

8:30pm PST fro Women / 10:30pm PST for Men

Specialized isn't just about bikes for faster Time Trial success.  Look for Stefan Schumacher, Ralf Grabsch and Cadel Evans in our new TT3 helmet and look for Levi Leipheimer in our high performance optics.

Friday, August 15th to Tuesday, August 19th – Track racing

Be sure to watch for the Specialized S-Works Langster under track cyclists as they battle over 5 days of indoor cycling excitement.  Also many track riders will be in Specialized helmets and optics.    Look for riders like Niki Terpstra, Brett Lancaster, Adam Duvendek, Mark French and Jenny Reed in our helmets, optics and shoes.

 

Friday, August 22nd – Women’s Cross Country Mountain Bike

3pm China time / midnight Thursday PST

Currently sitting 5th in the World Cup; Lene Byberg is a sure medal favorite on her ’09 S-Works Era, also look for Rie Katayama of Japan

Saturday, August 23rd – Men’s Cross Country Mountain Bike

3pm China time / midnight Friday PST

Current World Champion Christoph Sauser is certainly a top favorite for this event and his ‘09 S-Works Epic is up to the task.  A Bronze medalist from 2000 he’s looking to add to his medal haul! Also look for Christoph’s trade teammate Liam Kelleen from Great Britain.
